WordQ has made reading, writing, and communication easier and more accessible for millions of students around the world.

Our Solutions for Higher Ed

Our solutions revolve around the innovative WordQ® technology, initially introduced in 2001 and continuously refined over the years. For higher education needs, we offer Pro versions of WordQ desktop software for both Windows and macOS platforms, along with iWordQ iPad software, enhancing the basic WordQ software with Professional/Academic vocabularies.

WordQ is a user-friendly writing software tool designed to empower students, facilitating the creation of higher-quality writing with increased independence and confidence. It offers ongoing support for students with learning differences (e.g., dyslexia) or physical disabilities, as well as any student encountering writing barriers. Additionally, it complements reading and writing instruction, particularly for students learning English or French as a second language.

Supporting both English and French languages, both WordQ Pro desktop and iPad versions incorporate state-of-the-art word prediction coupled with text-to-speech functionality to aid in word selection. They also feature a proofreading mode where students can navigate through their documents, with portions read aloud to check for errors and overall flow. WordQ intelligently monitors keystrokes, presenting a list of predicted words and short phrases consistent with input. Students can audibly hear these suggestions and select them using keystrokes or mouse/trackpad. Additionally, a creative spelling facility assists in presenting the desired word despite spelling errors.

On Windows and macOS, WordQ's primary interface is a floating window that seamlessly interacts with various writing applications such as word processors or email programs. The iPad versions provide similar assistance within a self-contained document editor.

Termed intelligent assistance (IA), we emphasize this technology's role as a facilitator rather than an AI-driven tool. The goal is to encourage active participation in reading and writing, empowering users to be independent in their work and express ideas with ease. WordQ provides assistance tailored to individual needs, fostering a proactive approach to learning and communication.

WordQ Desktop and iWordQ are completely secure and don’t require an internet connection, except to download and activate.

Higher educational institutions can license WordQ Pro Desktop and Chrome for individual students, in volumes, labs, and institution-wide.

Higher education students can purchase WordQ Pro Desktop individually from the Store on this website.

iWordQ for iPads must be purchased from the Apple App Store.
