WordQ v6 for Windows is our next generation software to help persons with learning differences and those who are neurodiverse, English or French Language Learners, and in general, anyone facing barriers to reading and writing for any reason. WordQ is a simple-to-use tool featuring word prediction, speech feedback, and PDF viewing/editing that helps students create better quality writing with greater independence and confidence. These help individuals develop the skills and confidence they need to learn for life and thrive in school and in the workplace.
WordQ 6 for Windows is completely re-written for the modern generation of Microsoft Windows working seamlessly across both desktop and web applications, while keeping a familiar but modern user interface.
WordQ 6 for Windows is a free upgrade for subscription licence holders of WordQ 5 for Windows
Specific improvements in WordQ v6 over v5 include:
One version for all languages with automatic display of English or French user interface based on system language.
Importing of previous WordQ 5 user profiles.
Full WordQ functionality within online applications (e.g., Office 365 and Google apps) including in-context word prediction, speech feedback with word-by-word highlighting, and proofreading with keystroke control.
Greater accuracy with in-context word prediction that considers several previous words.
Refined PDF viewer user interface.
Reading website text selections, including word-by-word highlighting and ability to pause, restart, move a single word at a time backward and forward using arrow keys.
Individual downloading of selected Acapela TTS voices to allow greater flexibility in choosing which voices/dialects are used with a given WordQ installation.
Usage examples can be displayed in any language.
Standard or Pro
WordQ 6 is available in either Standard or Pro versions. The Standard version includes vocabulary templates and a dictionary suitable for elementary, intermediate and secondary students. The Pro version contains an advanced academic and professional vocabulary template and dictionary suitable for higher education (e.g., grade 12, post-secondary), and the workplace.

WordQ v5 for Windows
WordQ v5 for Windows is our classic version that is still available for Windows 7 – 11. No further updates will be developed past May 2024, although it will continue to be available as a subscription that includes a free upgrade to v6. Both WordQ v5 and v6 can be installed on the same computer. User profiles created in v5 can be imported to v6.
WordQ v5 for Windows is available in distinct language and regional versions (English/French, North American/International) and in Standard or Pro versions.
All key features described above in WordQ v6 are included in v5 (not including web app access), plus the following, which will be included in v6 in an upcoming update.

WordQ functionality (e.g., word prediction, speech feedback, and abbreviations) is not supported when using onscreen keyboards, eyegaze, system speech recognition, and screenreader software, although it does not interfere with such assistive technology. Other 3rd party assistive technology may interfere with the operation of WordQ beyond our control. While we have evaluated WordQ with the most common commercial applications such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs, new operating system and application updates by Microsoft, Google and Apple may introduce incompatibilities with WordQ beyond our control. While we will endeavour to address these within a timely fashion we cannot guarantee functionality with all future updates by 3rd parties.
WordQ’s PDF reader/editor requires PDF documents to be accessible, i.e., searchable text.
